Nehemiah 8:1-10 talks about a revival that took place because the people of God demanded to know the Word of God.  God is beginning to stir up His people in the same way.  The people of God are hungry and are demanding to know the truth of God's Word.

In the scripture, the Word of God was brought before the people and not only was it read, but Ezra, Nehemiah and other priests and scribes taught the people.  Verse 8 says:

8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.

The sole purpose of The Truth of God's Word is to bring the people of God into an understanding of His Word which will bring us into a closer walk with Him.
